KLAY and FNSA holders

What will happen to KLAY and FNSA?

Once the KAIA coin launches, your KLAY balance will automatically be reflected as KAIA. When the Kaia Portal goes live, FNSA holders will be able to utilize its swap service to burn their FNSA tokens on the Finschia network and claim an equivalent value of KLAY tokens in preparation for the KLAY to KAIA transition. Please read this post to learn more about swapping your FNSA to KLAY.

Will I need to create a new wallet for Kaia?

Your Klaytn wallet will be usable on Kaia, but you will need to update the RPC and block explorer URLs if you are using a 3rd-party multi chain wallet such as Metamask. These will be provided at a later date. Finschia wallet holders will need to create a Kaia wallet, and a website will be provided for FNSA holders to burn their tokens and claim an equivalent value of KAIA.

I’m currently staking FNSA. Will I need to wait 7 days to unstake my FNSA to swap to KAIA?

With the upcoming launch of Kaia, a governance vote will be proposed on the Finschia network to smoothly integrate token and governance mechanisms, including potentially reducing the unbonding time from 7 days to a couple of hours. If the vote passes, FNSA holders will be able to unstake and swap without having to wait a week.

What do DApps on Klaytn need to do to migrate to Kaia?

The Kaia mainnet will launch as a hard fork of Klaytn, so there will not be any additional preparatory work beyond what is typically needed for any Klaytn hard fork. Kaia branding guidelines will be provided soon for you to update your DApp where necessary.

Will the grant programs provided by Klaytn Foundation also be available for Kaia?

Yes, code audit grants, IOK fund and all other grant and funding programs available for Klaytn will be made available for Kaia.

What do DApps on Finschia need to do to migrate to Kaia?

For DApps in the Finschia ecosystem to migrate to Kaia, a process similar to migrating from a Cosmwasm chain to an EVM chain is required. Additional migration support will be shared once available, but if you need immediate assistance please contact Finschia Foundation.

I’m halfway building a DApp on Klaytn, how will this affect me?

You can continue building and launching your DApp on Klaytn once it is ready, DApps deployed on Klaytn will be automatically available on Kaia once it goes live. Kaia branding guidelines will be provided soon for you to update your DApp where necessary.

Can Klaytnscope still be used as the block explorer?

Klaytnscope will continue to function as a block explorer for Kaia, but it will be updated approximately 3 months later to a new Kaia-branded name and URL.

Will we need to update our wallet from Klaytn to Kaia immediately upon the launch of Kaia mainnet?

There will be no functional issues other than a name discrepancy, but we recommend updating your wallet once you can to reflect the new name and ticker. If you are an ecosystem partner, we will be reaching out to inform you when the update should be made.

Will KAIA be on a new mainnet that will require integration work?

The Kaia mainnet will be a hard fork of Klaytn, and not a whole new mainnet. The Klaytn mainnet will continue to operate under the new Kaia name after the rebrand.

Is KAIA a completely new coin?

No, KAIA is a rebrand from KLAY. However, there will be some changes in supply due to the merger of Klaytn and Finschia. As such, we would recommend starting the token charts afresh.

Is there a detailed schedule or timeline for when the KAIA market will open?

The KAIA market will open in Q3 2024, we will share the exact block number closer to the date.

What changes can we expect to need to make?

Most RPCs will be the same on Kaia, except for namespace changes (i.e., klay_ to kaia_, although klay_ will remain for backwards compatibility). You will not need to abandon your current setup, and will only need to upgrade the binary to Kaia’s once it is released.

Where can we find documentation on hardware requirements?

If you are planning to run a Kaia EN, the hardware requirements are the same as Klaytn’s, which you can find here.

What will Kaia’s Network ID be?

Kaia’s Network ID will be the same as Klaytn’s.

Will batches be supported, and if yes, what will be the limit for batch requests?

Yes, Kaia will support batching of multiple RPC requests. The default batch limit is 3,000 but this is configurable.
